Really Simple Syndication – RSS

RSS, or really simple syndication as it usually (but not always) refers to, is a way of providing or receiving news feeds of new and updated content from websites and blogs. As a user, this saves you time as you no longer have to visit lots of sites you are interested in to find out if their content has been updated.

To receive RSS feeds you will need a news/feed reader or aggregator, which can be browser based or software. Then you simply click on the RSS link (often a small orange symbol) on the website or blog from which you want to receive a feed.

Some people refer to RSS as Rich Site Summary.
