LAN – Local Area Network

A local area network, or LAN, is simply a network of computers and devices (eg workstation, computer, printer) linked together – and limited to a particular area (for example a home, office, floor of an office, or collection of buildings). Because they share facilities such as servers and printers, they are more efficient that separate pc-and-printer set-ups.
